Hot off the press! Zieman, A. and Coulombe PA. The keratin 16 null phenotype is modestly impacted by

The lab recently reported, in Experimental Dermatology, that the severity of the palmoplantar keratoderma-like manifestations that spontaneously arise in Krt16 null mice are impacted by the genetic strain background, being less severe in the FVB relative to the C57Bl/6 strain. This is relevant because the phenotypic consequences associated with very similar missense alleles in human KRT16 vary considerably in individuals with pachyonychia congenita.
